The Putrajaya Sailing Week, 11-13 July 2008

The spirit of competition is enhanced by passion. That’s how we describe our upcoming Putrajaya Sailing Week, the city’s inaugural sailing regatta to be held from 11th until 13th July 2008. The event will be held at Precinct 6, overlooking the magnificent Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

This is the country’s first lake sailing regatta set against a backdrop of world class city. We are inviting everyone we know from across the nation and region to participate and visit us during this unique sailing event.

Seven years has passed by, and the Putrajaya city is geared up to become a great place to live in. With a rapidly growing population of 55,000, and 670,000 foreign tourist visits per year, coupled with 28 successful international events and 39 national events, the city is indeed flourishing. The city’s 650 hectares of lake water has witnessed numerous successful water based events over the years, and has been a great blessing to us.

With the promising Southwesterly wind in July, we expect over 170 sailboats on water racing to the finish line where winners will claim the splendid prizes we offer. We thank the Malaysian Yachting Association, for grading the event as the National Ranking Circuit ensuring a competitive and quality racing for all sailing classes and its participants.

We are privileged to have many great events held in Putrajaya, which are well known across the region, and we wish to earmark this sailing regatta as the city’s premiere sporting event, thanks to the organisers who are passionate and committed to host this annual regatta, and who are ever ready to provide competitors and visitors a truly memorable sailing occasion.
